Server & Network Administrator – Hong Kong – Permanent

Server & Network Administrator urgently required by a Global IT Consultancy for a permanent position in their Hong Kong office. PTS Managed Services is a subsidiary of PTS Consulting, specialising in providing Enterprise grade IT solutions to SME financial and non-financial institutions such as Fund Managers, Private Equity Institutions, legal, accounting, insurance etc. through the provision of Project Management, IT Consulting, IT Systems Integration and post-project support. Originally founded in London in 1983, PTS Consulting now has offices in most of the major global financial hubs including London, New York, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney and Dubai.

This role requires someone who is very flexible and adaptable and is happy to ‘roll their sleeves up’ and perform whatever duties are required to support our customer base.

Key Requirements


·         Solid experience in provision of IT implementation and support services, preferably within the financial services sector and/or working for a systems integrator.
·         Strong communicator with proven experience managing end user support requirements.
·         ITIL training and experience a definite plus
·         Top quality interpersonal skills expected, including excellent spoken and written English. Cantonese and Mandarin skills are a plus.
·         Demonstrable business acumen with an understanding of the economic dimension of projects and how costs influence solution choices.
·         Qualifications in IT systems beneficial with Microsoft, Cisco and/or Juniper certifications desirable.
·         Project Management experience

A broad knowledge of all of the current technologies, with in-depth and HANDS ON experience of at least five of the following technologies and systems:

·         TCP/IP Networks configuration, WAN/LAN/Firewall technology
·         Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008, SharePoint Services, VMware, Active Directory, MS Exchange
·         Cisco CCNA or higher a must
·         Cisco CCDP / CCVP / CCNP nice to have
·         PABX/IP Telecommunications
·         Network configuration of Video conferencing, CCTV and Access Control Systems
·         Virtual infrastructure
·         Data Replication/Backup/Archiving
·         VPN/Remote Access technologies (e.g. Citrix)
·         NAS/SAN technologies
·         Wireless technology
·         PDA/Blackberry technologies
·         Market Data Applications and Feeds

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first and second level technical and applications support for all platforms - to end-clients both remotely and onsite including answering technical questions, incident resolution, identification of workarounds, logging and escalation of incidents and root cause (problem) analysis of incidents.
  • Provide out-of-hours on-call support on a roster basis.
  • Carry out systems integration tasks including Windows server, Active Directory and Exchange deployment, firewall, switch and router configuration.
  • Routine maintenance and housekeeping of PTS and client systems.
  • Creation and maintenance of environment documentation. Configuration management and asset tracking.
·         Network configuration of Video conferencing, CCTV and Access Control Systems.
·         Desktop support.
  • Provide relevant expertise to PTS project teams.
  • Co-ordinate and co-operate with PTS staff, clients and vendors to meet service level agreements.
  • Work at PTS offices and client’s site in Hong Kong, with occasional visits overseas.
