Senior Windows Server Support Engineer – 3 month contract – Edinburgh – £225 to £240 per day
PTS’ financial services client is looking to bring in a Senior Windows Server Support Engineer for an initial 3 month contract which has the possibility for further extension.  You will be responsible for the support of the Development/UAT and Production through to DR Windows and VMware infrastructure across the EMEA region. You will have previous compliance experience having carried out a similar role supporting a large enterprise server estate.
Core Responsibilities:

• Windows/VMware systems support and administration
• Works closely with business analysts and/or business or client representatives to understand business requirements and translate them effectively into system specifications.
• May review systems specifications prepared by other staff.
• Participates in system design with application development staff.
• Effectively communicates requirements / resolves issues with application developers, application support and business analysts / users.
• Analyses existing system logic and operation and develops recommendations for solutions to address application issues or enhancements.
• May participate in or assist testing specialists with preparation and execution of application tests.
• Provides functional support to end-users.
• Will lead Root Cause Analysis on problems.
• May lead small projects under general supervision.
• May serve as a mentor to junior staff.

 Essential requirements:

• You will have extensive Windows systems administration and ideally additional skills in VMware systems administration experience within a banking environment.
• Technical Skills required: Windows 2003 and 2008, Veritas Storage Foundation product suite, SAN Connectivity.
• In-depth of experience of security and compliance tasks in.
• Experience of coding and scripting for Windows would be beneficial
• IBM n-Series NAS and TSM experience would be beneficial.
• You must be experienced in the configuration, maintenance and administration of HP hardware.
• Needs to be motivated and a good communicator with proven troubleshooting skills. One that can work in a fast paced environment whilst delivering the expected quality of work.
• The role also includes project work so good organisation skills are a must.
