Digital Web Developer - .Net/C#/CMS

Edinburgh based - .Net Web Developer position

We are currently looking for an experienced ASP.NET Web Developer (preferably with demonstrable CMS experience - but not essential) to work on a variety of exciting web projects managed by an award winning client.

In this role you will report to the Technical Manager, but also work closely with the rest of the team including other developers, designers and end clients.

You will be:

• A strong technician, with good written and verbal communications, with a solid understanding of how to apply pragmatic software engineering practices to the production of high quality, robust web sites.
• Expected to provide assistance and guidance to colleagues in any aspect of software design, creation, testing and documentation.
• Capable of taking account of new information or changed circumstances in a fast moving project environment, and acting accordingly.

Responsibilities will include: -

• Scoping, estimating, design, implementation and maintenance of .NET-based websites and applications
• Identifying and researching candidate solutions, particularly CMS, for client requirements, and communicating clearly with the team and clients regarding the proposed solution.

You will have strong commercial experience in ASP.NET, and the following skills are essential to the role:-

• ASP.Net
• C# or VB.Net
• XML / XSLT
• HTML / CSS / JavaScript
• Experience of at least one major JavaScript framework (e.g. JQuery)
• SQL Server
• Version Control (SVN / VSS)
• Visual Studio (2005 +)

In addition, the following qualities are desirable: -

• Website management and configuration with IIS
• Continuous Integration and similar development practices.
• MySQL
• Commercial or Open Source Content Management Systems 
• A digital agency background

You will need to have strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. A clear and concise articulator of ideas, you’ll be persuasive and credible in front of clients, or prospective clients, at all levels.

Although my client works in a team culture, you need to be comfortable managing your own time and workload autonomously.

What is critical is that you have a real passion for the web and can bring focus and enthusiasm to the role.
