Cisco Network Engineer urgently required for a full-time position based in Dundee. You will be working for a leading online technologies services provider, you will be part of a team responsible for maintaining the core network, implementing new access solutions for customers and designing new networks. As part of the role you will liaise with customers to understand requirements, produce Work Proposals and document any work undertaken. The Cisco Network Engineer will have good knowledge of new RFCs and RIPE policies.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensure the optimal operation of ISP Core Network through
- Good understanding on monitoring systems and SNMP protocol
- Gather symptoms
- Isolate fault
- Rectify fault
- Troubleshoot customer connectivity problems
- Design optimal network architectures for new and existing customers
- Document all work undertaken and existing infrastructures
- Maintain appropriate knowledge and professional certifications as necessary
- Liaises with customers for understanding of requirements
- Take responsibility for any project assigned
Essential Skills:
· Full, clean UK driving license
- 3 years at CCNP level
- Experience with PIX\ASA, Cisco IOS firewall features, VPN - Install and Support
Desirable Skills:
- Good understanding of all TCP\IP layers and performance related parameters
- Experience with implementing QoS (Modular QoS and Catalyst QoS)
- Experience on Cisco loadbalancers CSS\ACE
- Experience with VoIP – SIP, H.323 protocols
- Experience of working with RIPE database and RPSL
- Experience on the following cisco platforms 7500,7200,6500,3750,3560,2800,2600 series
- Experience with network monitoring tools , netflow collectors, SNMP (Solarwinds an advantage)
- Experience with Linux\Unix , scripting tools
- TACACS\Radius
