Cisco ICT Network Engineer required for a full-time role based in Manchester. You will be responsible to lead significant Cisco projects, review and enhance service provision and take an active role in team development. You will also develop and support the network infrastructure and associated services, ensure availability; enhance reliability and co-ordinate service convergence onto IP. Cisco Certified applicants will be looked at favourably.
KEY TASKS:
- To ensure the continued availability of reliable, scalable, high performance and secure network infrastructure and associated services which must meet the current needs of customers throughout the organisation.
- To propose strategies to address their future requirements for specific aspects of network infrastructure and associated services.
- To identify appropriate service level targets taking into account available resources, and to monitor and report on service levels achieved in order to ensure that service levels meet the needs of the customers.
- To plan and manage complex projects of a technical nature, balancing available resources and monitoring progress against plans in order to maximise the likelihood of successful delivery.
- To develop, maintain and apply a significant breadth and depth of current technical and professional expertise in order to analyse complex situations and develop appropriate solutions meeting a wide range of technical and non-technical criteria.
- To take a lead on professional development for members of their project team, and to support the professional development of other colleagues in their specialist area(s).
- To understand customer requirements and to develop relationships and contacts.
- To contribute to the development of methods of working, and to follow agreed methods of working and in particular to produce and maintain documentation in order to support the long term delivery of projects and services.
- You will be expected to provide additional evening and weekend cover for both scheduled and emergency tasks as part of an agreed scheme.
ESSENTIAL:
- Ability to lead the work of a project team, monitoring progress against plans and identifying the need for further action and resources.
- Ability to analyse complex situations, explore, evaluate and recommend potential solutions.
- Cisco skills and certifications.
- Current Routing protocols and technology.
- Current Switch protocols and technology.
- Current Wireless protocols and technology.
- Current IP Address management protocols and technology.
- Current Network Security protocols and technology.
- Current Copper and Fibre network cabling standards and technologies.
- A first degree or equivalent qualification, or equivalent experience.
